To Him Who sits on the throne
And I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. -Revelation 5:4
We live in a skeptical age. Perhaps rightfully so. Time and again in recent years, technology has sped up the transfer of information exponentially. Good news, bad news, news with varying degrees of quality, veracity, and importance slams our consciousness in a seemingly endless torrent. Hardly anything is as simple as it seems as our heroes are quickly exposed as only human, flawed like the rest of us. Sometimes, the flaws seem even more egregious because it feels like someone was hiding something from us, and we were hoping it would all be somehow different this time....
And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” -Revelation 5:5
Yet there remains one Champion who is constant, who never fails, who really is everything that was advertised and then some. He alone has been tested and proved Himself worthy, a King who is above reproach, too lofty for us to aspire to, yet willing to humble Himself on our behalf to restore the relationship that we foolishly, persistently, and pridefully damaged beyond recognition.
And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation... -Revelation 5:9
With our redemption, He invited us into His mission.
...and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” -Revelation 5:10
And that is where we will begin in 2019. Join us at Student Center East, 6:15 AM, Friday January 4. The theme for the first couple of months will be King and Kingdom, and it starts with recognizing our king.
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” -Revelation 5:13
